Adult and Family Ministry

The Adult Sunday school classes at Hesston Mennonite welcome one-time guests, new members, or those who are just checking us out.
Builders -The Builders Sunday school class is a class of 19 members, ages ranging in 70s-90s. We study the Adult Bible Study. Every two months we have a class social, hosted by committees of class members. Most often we meet at Water’s Edge Restaurant for breakfast with an activity or short program. (Ladies meet for coffee each Wednesday afternoon at the Water’s Edge.) This past year our monthly offerings went for support to MCC, Resource Center, benevolent fund, meat canning and Meals on Wheels for class members with health problems. We welcome anyone wanting to be a part of a small church within a larger church.

faithjourney - faithjourney is a smaller class of about seven to twelve per Sunday. We have a teacher/facilitator, but class time involves everyone in open discussion of either a study book or a Bible study. We have socials and service projects every year. Come journey with us as we explore being faithful believers.

Hearts & Hands - Hearts & Hands has studied books such as The Shack this past year. We also met with two other classes to study the book Making Space for God. Examples of out- of-class activities include eating out, bowling, going to Dyck Arboretum, and Gaeddert’s Corn Maze. We welcome all ages to join our class of a mix of middle-aged and retired members.

Visions - The Visions Sunday school class welcomes guests and new members as we seek to grow in our Christian journey through Bible and book studies, service projects, and relationship-building social activities.

Pathfinders -You are welcome at the Pathfinder Sunday school class. We enjoy studying the Bible and have two Bible teachers who rotate teaching the standard Sunday school lessons. We have wonderful discussions and fellowship. We begin each Sunday with class concerns, sing a song, and have prayer. We get together every other month for a social. The women of the class meet every Wednesday at 9am for coffee and fellowship at the Water’s Edge Restaurant.

Seekers - Our class mission statement: We exist to experience and practice the Safety, Respect, Fellowship, Support and Stimulation of intentional sharing and mutual accountability as seekers of Truth in order to be a healthy, life-giving, interactive spiritual organism, The Body of Christ.

Young Adults - We are an informal group that gathers generally on the first and third Sundays of the month for lunch and fellowship. The Young Adults will begin a Sunday morning meeting time during the Sunday school hour September 12. If you are interested, please join us at 9:00 a.m. in the classroom west of the Prayer Room [off the Education Hall foyer].  Childcare will be available during the Sunday School hour; please let Sara Kopper know if you will need that resource, so we know how many adults to have in the nursery.

We look for service projects to participate in throughout the year, and have a bake sale in the spring to raise funds for local organizations. We welcome anyone to join us, and if you are in your 20s or 30s, married or single, with or without children, then you will find someone else like you in our group!

Genesis - We’re a small informal class who gather weekly to share our life experiences and some theme discussions/studies. We welcome new members, both young and older and embrace diversity.

Lifestyles - We are a small group with a great age span that particularly enjoys book studies and projects. We would welcome new members to add to our diversity.

New Beginnings - The New Beginnings Sunday school class welcomes you to come and join us on Sunday mornings as we learn to know God better through studying the Bible and Christian books and supporting each other through sharing time and prayer. We are interested in a wide variety of topics. We enjoy meeting together outside of church also and try to get together for a social activity monthly. We also enjoy doing service projects together as a group and often include our children, ranging in age from birth through high school.

Open Circle - Open Circle, as the name suggests, welcomes participants who wish to practice God’s love across the street and around the world. We seek to provide a smaller caring group within the larger church.
